The Full Story

MyCitAI was born from a simple observation: cities are full of amazing experiences but finding them isn’t always easy. Visitors are handed plain brochures or left to navigate overwhelming websites, while both tourists and locals often walk past hidden gems without ever noticing them. We saw an opportunity to change that.

We created MyCitAI to make exploring a city feel like having a local insider in your pocket, a 24/7 digital ambassador that complements a BID or chamber’s in-person team. By blending AI technology with community knowledge, our platform helps people instantly build personalized “days in the city” tailored to their time, budget, and interests.

MyCitAI began with two siblings who realized even in a place we knew well, there was so much we were missing. Gabby lived on King Street for five years, and after countless visits from Durben, we still never had the chance to explore everything. Mainly because we didn’t even know what was out there. MyCitAI was built to change that, helping people discover hidden gems, connect with local businesses, and experience the city in ways they might otherwise miss.

At the heart of MyCitAI is a simple belief: technology should strengthen communities. That’s what we’re building, and that’s the story we’re excited to share.

Co- Founder

Gabby Carpenter

Gabby earned her undergraduate degree in Accounting from the College of Charleston and went on to complete a Master’s in Urban Design at Clemson University. She has worked with the King Street Business Improvement District as a freelance designer and continues to collaborate with them today. Gabby is passionate about helping people experience cities in new and meaningful ways.

Co-Founder

Durben Carpenter

Durben is a Finance major and a wrestler at Virginia Tech, bringing discipline and focus from both academics and athletics. He worked on financial analysis and business strategy this past summer for WellOrg Partners. He is driven to apply his skills to help cities and businesses grow through innovation and technology.
